Learn to Breathe With Me

I am looking for people to join me in a 10-week training program. (BOOST is a 4-week program.) It will include our time doing BOOST, but it will start before and end after BOOST.

I am not teaching this breathing program. I just really want to learn it. And I know I will need other people to help me stick to it.

We are talking about TWO 20 minute training sessions every day for 10-weeks. Joining includes purchasing the book, an app, and a tool for “biofeedback.” So that we can be scientific about our progress.

Not This

Last week I sent you a note announcing Tuesday’s new program: Navigating Transformation. (If you are new to this newsletter, Tuesday is also my soon to be wife!!!! Tick Tock to November 5!).

Today, I want to link you to the third and last part of her recent articles on transformation, which I have been sharing with you here.

I love Tuesday and her work. And I continue to share it with you because I know it flows from someone who is actually walking to walk. My love is doing the work.

Learn Emergent Dialogue

I’m no longer on Twitter (now X). I left a long time ago. And I’m glad I did. But I was an early adopter. And my twitter bio still reads: “Interested in new ways of being-with.”

It’s what I’ve been after for a long time. New ways of being-with. The quest is what defines my facilitation work. I want us to meet and come together from a deeper, more meaningful place. A place that allows something new and unexpected to arise.

The practice of Emergent Dialogue is the most powerful way I know for truly experiencing the We-Space. A new way of being-with.

Turn Off, Tune Out, Drop In

The other day I got an email from the inimitable Jamie Wheal. Another one of those heterodox thinkers that I’m paying a lot of attention to. Jamie says that Tim Leary had it backwards. That instead of: “Turn on, tune in, drop out” we should be thinking in terms of:

  • Turn Off

  • Tune Out

  • Drop In

I couldn't agree more.  Which is why I’m thinking about this as we turn towards September. As we pick up our pace and our devices suck more and more of our attention into that terrible dance between work and work avoidance.

The Bigger Picture, Psychedelics & Making Sense

tldr: Why I think Alexander Beiner’s “The Bigger Picture” is one of the most important books you can read if you want to make sense of our times. And why it is so aligned with what you and I are up to here.

If you take but a moment to think about it, you will notice that you enter a different state of consciousness when you are interacting with a screen. Our states shape our experience of reality. And they shape how we interact with each other.

The fact is that we are switching codes and changing states every time we shift from our screen to real life. But we don’t even know it’s happening. And so we get our “realities” confused. This is one of many reasons why I think that “The Bigger Picture” by Alexander Beiner is an essential book for our times.

Coach Talk

Tuesday and I spend a lot of time talking about coaching. So we thought it would be good to bring you into the conversation. The idea of “Coach Talk” is to support other coaches. And especially to support leaders who might not call themselves coaches, but who must definitely coach others in order to lead any successful enterprise.

AI & Being Human Together

This one is shorter. It is a continuation of my last post: “AI and Ancestors in Training,” but it also stands alone. Where the last post invited us into a multigenerational project. This one is a call to be human together today. To come together IRL. In the flesh. The opposite of artificial. I spend a little bit of time looking at the scarier side of what is unfolding. But I end with an invitation. And with radical trust that there is something in us that can never be lost.

AI and Ancestors in Training

None of us, NOT ONE of us, actually knows or understands AI. Even those who are at the wheel. Even those pretending to know. What we can say with conviction is that we are witnessing the birth of something new. Something that will change the very course of human history. But even this is an assertion that we should be holding lightly.

It is good to stay humble. It is essential to keep perspective. We breathe and live somewhere between ancestors and descendants. “We are in the Middle of Forever.” (Indigenous Voices from Turtle Island on the Changing Earth, Jamail and Rushworth)
